Friday the 13th Full Honey Moon

It seems I have been posting a lot about the moon lately here, but this combination of a Full Honey Moon and Friday the 13th is rare, last occurring on June 13, 1919. We'll have to wait until June 13, 2098, for the next one! Of course, I had to capture the silhouette of a local Mexican Free-tailed Bat against the moon for an added effect. ;)

While the sun's path across the sky at its highest during this month, the moon is at its lowest, which keeps the moon closest to the horizon and makes it appear more amber than other full moons. The colors are more in the tones of sunset... towards the red end of the color spectrum because of the scattering of longer wavelengths of light by dust and pollution in our atmosphere.
