Comet Catalina (C/2013 US10)

This is a bit of a "latergram", as I am finally getting around to posting about spotting Comet Catalina (C/2013 US10) before sunrise on December 7th, 2015. (Yes, that was the day of the Venus-Moon Occultation!

It was hard to spot it, and my photo does it no justice, but viewing that softly glowing green mass hanging in the pre-dawn sky was magical. So silent and still, yet of course we knew it was a raging piece of suicidal ice-rock flying at the sun.

Pre-dawn Comet Catalina (C/2013 US10) - 5:15am
New Braunfels, Texas
Canon SX50 HS - f/5.6 - ISO 6400 - 0.8s. exposure

The star to the comets right is HR 5353 in the constellation Virgo.
